Course overview

This course will teach you how to audit medicines to ensure you receive and maintain the highest rating for medicines management and medicines optimisation from the care regulators. We can tailor this course to CQC in England, the Scottish or Welsh Care Inspectorate, or RQIA in Northern Ireland.

Aimed at

Managers and senior staff in care homes. Note that we have a different version of this course for community settings as the requirements for managing medicines vary in community settings and supported living.

Speaker

The workshop is led by John Greene: a registered pharmacist with over 30 years’ experience. John is lead trainer and owner of the Medication Training Company.

Since 2004, John and his team have supported more than 25 local authorities and hundreds of private care providers, with consultancy, medication policy writing, audits and training. John has authored 5 books on the subject.

Course content

We have an in-depth medicines audit tool, developed over many years, in consultation with current and ex-CQC Pharmacists. It provides a deep dive into your medication management processes. The audit is broken down into annual, monthly and weekly checks. We can train your staff to use this medicines audit tool, or base the training on any in house audit tools you have.

We will take the delegates through each of the areas, giving advice, answering questions, and showing where delegates can access the standards and guidelines on which each element is based (for further information).
