AUDITS & POLICIES
Medicines audits and error investigations
Our medicines audit helps you gain and maintain good or outstanding with the care regulators. We can also carry out/coach you with medication error investigations.

Receiving the wrong advice costs time and money
We’ve seen numerous examples where organisations have been incorrectly advised by general auditors or care inspectors. We’ve seen people wrongly advised on monitoring of room temperatures for medicines storage, or insisting midazolam is stored in a controlled drugs cabinet.
Receiving, and acting on this wrong advice costs time and money.
We recommend you take advice from subject matter experts. A company who focuses all their expertise in just this one area – us.
How it works
Our medicines’ audits help you gain and maintain good or outstanding ratings with CQC (or the Scottish or Welsh Care Inspectorate).
Our in-depth medicines audit tool, has been developed over many years in consultation with CQC pharmacists. It provides a deep dive into your medication management processes. Like the care regulator, we shadow staff as they administer medication and can video (with permissions) working methods to show the staff where risks lie, and where improvements can be made. We can even use the results of this audit to build bespoke training courses for you.
If medication errors are the driver, we will work with your team to carry out root cause analysis, identify and share learning, and address any issues identified (as taught on our workshop:
Medication Errors – Learning from Errors to Reduce Harm.
Staff will will receive bespoke training on the errors process, a copy of our OTL (Opportunity to Learn) form and a standard operating procedure (SOP) that can be inserted into your medication policy that describes how the organisation manages medication errors.
