Our Foundation Refresher course satisfies the requirements from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for an annual update of the knowledge, skills and competencies needed to administer medicines (as required by NICE).
There are two refresher versions to support ongoing learning:
- First refresher (Year 2): completed one year after the foundation course
- Second refresher (Year 3): completed a year later, building on previous knowledge and including additional content on managing medicines around food and mealtimes

Rather than repeating the same course each year—which can become a ‘tick box’ exercise—our refreshers re-test the skills learnt on the foundation course while also updating learners on current best practice since their initial training.

- Recording on the medicines charts and other medicines paperwork
