Course Overview

Our refresher course satisfies the requirements from CQC for an annual update of the knowledge, skills and competencies needed to administer medicines (as required by NICE).The course:

  • provides any updates to best practice since the foundation course was taken
  • tests that the skills leant on the foundation course have been retained.

Aimed at

This is a refresher course for nurses and support workers, in
care homes and community settings, who have completed their foundation training. There is an additional blister pack module which can be added when you checkout.

Section 1: Updates since the foundation course

Section 2: Assess you are competent to safely and correctly:

  1. check that the medicine is due
  2. check you have the correct client
  3. check you have the correct medicine
  4. check you have the correct strength
  5. check you have the correct form
  6. check you have the correct directions
  7. check you have the correct blister strip inside

Section 3: Assessyouare competent to safely and correctly:

  • identify that the medicine has been administered correctly
  • identify any mistakes were made when the medicine was administered
