Foundation Course for Medicines Witnesses

Course Overview

There are certain times when handling medicines in a care home, that CQC require a second person to provide a second check/act as a witness, namely:

  • When handling controlled drugs
  • When amending medicines administration records (MARs)
  • Some organisations also have a second person there to receive medicines (although this isn’t a strict CQC requirement).

CQC require this second person (the witness) to be trained in these tasks, be clear on their role, and confident enough to challenge any mistakes they see. This online course provides the training needed to achieve this.
