ACTIVATING A VAGAL NERVE STIMULATION DEVICE DURING A SEIZURE

Course Overview

A face-to-face workshop teaching how to manage and treat a seizure and person with a vagal nerve stimulator . Learners have the course delivered by an experienced pharmacist or
nurse. Theory is studied using video, case studies, discussion and a comprehensive workbook provided on the day.

Anyone who supports someone with a Vagal Nerve Stimulator (VNS).

Format

Face-to-face (in person) practical workshop.

Duration

30 minutes for the VNS session (can be added to other sessions), 2 hours if alongside epilepsy awareness.

Epilepsy awareness

The Joint Epilepsy Council require learners to receive epilepsy awareness training in addition to emergency medication training. Our 3.5-hour course (above) provides the epilepsy awareness training in a workbook which is studied either before, or on the day of the workshop. As an alternative, we can run this 2-hour module at the start of the workshop which takes the epilepsy awareness information from the workbook and teaches it in an additional face-to-face module.
