Our half-day in-person refresher course satisfies the requirements from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for an annual update of the knowledge, skills and competencies needed to administer medicines (as required by NICE). Rather than having to study the same course each year (to just tick a box), our course re-tests the skills learnt on the foundation course as well as providing course updates to best practice since the foundation course was taken.

Note that we have a separate refresher course for shared lives and personal assistants.

Course content

  1. Section 1: Updates to best practice since the foundation course
  2. Section 2: Simulated medicines rounds to assess you can still safely and correctly:
  3. Check that the medicine is due
  4. Check you have the correct client
  5. Check you have the correct medicine
  6. Check you have the correct strength
  7. Check you have the correct form
  8. Check you have the correct directions
  9. Check you have the correct blister strip inside
